Jordan Fisher to Appear in Broadway’s Hadestown
Vulture reports that Carney has starred as Orpheus for Hadestown‘s entire Broadway run, but he’ll be performing his final show on November 19. Fisher will take over the role the next day. In a statement, Fisher said Carney had “an absolutely historic run and performance.”
“His unrelenting heart and soul is deeply embedded in this role and in this story,” Fisher continued. “I’m beyond honored and grateful for the opportunity to step in and steward such a beautifully crafted character. My wife, son and I have been jamming to the cast album for a long time. It’s been a dream to be able to join the party! Specifically in this role. This tale is one that truly must be told again and again.”
Hadestown is a musical by Anaïs Mitchell which retells the Greek myth of Orpheus and Eurydice. The Broadway production currently stars Solea Pfeiffer as Eurydice, Lillias White as Hermes, Betty Who as Persephone, and Phillip Boykin as Hades.
Fisher Has Appeared in a Few Broadway Shows
Fisher is known for his television appearances on The Secret Life of the American Teenager and Disney Channel’s Teen Beach Movie series, but he’s also an experienced stage performer. He made his Broadway debut in Hamilton in 2016.
The star later appeared as the title character in Dear Evan Hansen starting in 2020. Then earlier this year, he appeared as Anthony Hope in Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street. Fisher also performed in FOX’s Rent: Live in 2019.
Fisher tied the knot with his wife Ellie Woods in 2020. In 2022, the couple welcomed their first child together, a son named Riley William.
