Tweet Claims Alanis Morissette, Demi Lovato Are Joining ‘American Idol’ — Is It True?

A recent tweet has claimed that Alanis Morissette and Demi Lovato will serve as judges on the American Idol panel next season. That would mean that Katy Perry and Lionel Richie are leaving the show. However, there is absolutely no evidence that this is true.
Tweet Claims to Know Season 22 American Idol Judges
On Sunday, Twitter user Andy Hudson wrote, “According to the GMA, Alanis Morissette, Luke Bryan, and Demi Lovato will serve as judges of American Idol’s next season.” The tweet includes photos of the three mentioned celebrities.
A number of Twitter users responded to the claim believing it to be true and sharing their thoughts about the potential panel of judges. One user wrote, “I might actually watch this season.” However, another user wanted confirmation, as they tagged the three celebrities in their reply.
Unsurprisingly, none of them have posted about this alleged news on social media. There also haven’t been any legitimate reports about it online. If “the GMA” is supposed to refer to Good Morning America, that outlet in particular has also mentioned nothing about it.
Interestingly, Andy Hudson appears to be a Katy Perry fan account. It’s safe to say they made up this rumor out of thin air, and there’s absolutely no reason to believe it’s true.

Will the Judges Return Next Season?
Although the tweet in question is clearly made up, that doesn’t mean the judges for Season 22 of American Idol have been confirmed. The show was renewed earlier this year, but it’s not clear yet if all three judges are returning.
Perry in particular has been the subject of rumors concerning her future on the show. The singer has received criticism for her treatment of certain contestants. Perry herself has expressed uncertainty about whether she’ll return.
During Season 21, Alanis Morissette and Ed Sheeran filled in for Perry and Lionel Richie when they were busy performing for King Charles’ coronation. Some fans have expressed their hope that Morissette will join the show permanently.
