American Idol judge Katy Perry is pregnant with a baby girl, and she recently chatted with Ryan Seacrest and Kelly Ripa about the exciting news. Katy revealed one very funny reason why she’s glad to be having a girl with fiancé Orlando Bloom.
Katy also talked about her pregnancy cravings, and seeing her daughter on an ultrasound. During the interview, Orlando was still sleeping, but Katy made sure to wear a onesie covered in his face. You know, as you do.
Why Katy Perry Is Glad To Be Having A Baby Girl
Katy appeared in the interview via video chat, along with her fellow American Idol judges Lionel Richie and Luke Bryan. Kelly congratulated her on the news that she’s having a girl.

“Yes, I was wondering who was going to inherit all of my absurd costumes,” Katy said, and Kelly said her daughter would be a “lucky girl.” If you missed it, Katy dressed up as a giant bottle of hand sanitizer for this week’s American Idol episode.
Katy said she had recently been to the doctor, and saw her baby girl on an ultrasound. “I actually have a video of her giving me the middle finger,” she said, “and I was like, ‘This is my child.'”
What Pregnancy Cravings Has Katy Been Having?
Katy mentioned in Sunday’s new episode of American Idol that it’s been hard having pregnancy cravings during quarantine. Ryan Seacrest asked her to expand on that, and she said she wonders, “Do I want to risk my life, or do I need that watermelon?”

Earlier in her pregnancy, an app informed Katy that her baby was the sign of an Eggo waffle, leading her to crave waffles. She says she has to avoid food advertising, or she’ll be influenced. Katy added that she might need to buy scratch-and-sniff stickers to curb her cravings.
Katy reportedly plans to honor her late grandmother Ann Pearl Hudson when she names her baby daughter. We can’t wait to find out what name she and Orlando choose when she gives birth later this year.
