Words can’t explain how hilarious Sofia Vergara’s character was on Modern Family. As the most friendly character in the show, Gloria Pritchett’s storylines were always funny and amusing. The mockumentary-style sitcom would not be as engrossing without Gloria as one of its characters.

1. When She Taught Jay Fake Colombian Traditions
After Gloria’s grandmother passed away, she paid tribute by cooking some traditional Colombian meals, which Jay apparently made fun of. When Jay felt bad and offered to help, she demanded her husband to follow weird –and fake– traditions to get even.
2. When Gloria Hunted Who Ruined Her Hot Sauce Business Advertisement
In Season seven, Gloria started a hot sauce business, introducing her family recipe in grocery stores. To advertise the product, she made a cardboard cut-out of herself kissing potential customers. This has drawn jealousy on Jay’s part, prompting him to steal the cut-out. The storyline went funnier when Gloria began her ferocious hunt for the culprit.
3. When Her Pregnancy Hormones Got The Better of Her
During the sitcom’s Halloween episode, heavily pregnant Gloria dressed up as an alien to celebrate the holiday. Being more hot-headed than usual, she reprimanded anyone that went near her. She even chased some old trick-or-treaters who threw an egg on her door. Indeed, Gloria’s pregnancy hormones during this episode made her way funnier.
4. When a Waiter Guessed Gloria Was Jay’s wife
Gloria was fond of the fact that people initially think that Jay was her father. In one scene though, she was shocked that a waiter didn’t guess the same, making her realize that she’s getting old.
5. When She Saved Stella From Drowning
It’s no secret that Gloria doesn’t adore Jay’s pet dog Stella. When Stella jumped into the pool, she didn’t hesitate to save her from drowning although she’s already all made up. This was one of the moments that viewers saw she cared for the dog during an effortlessly comical situation.
6. When Jay Thought Gloria Killed The Neighbor’s Dog
One of the many things Jay knew about his wife was that she wasn’t afraid to kill animals. Back in Season two, there was an episode where their neighbor’s dog wouldn’t stop barking, forcing Gloria to threaten them to take better care of the dog. The dog, however, went missing the next day – making Jay suspect that Gloria killed it.
7. When She Sent The Wrong Email
Intending to reconcile with Claire Dunphy, Gloria tried to write a blunt email for her, which she didn’t intend to send. Unfortunately, she accidentally hit the send button, making her freak out. Her reaction during this scene almost made fans die out of laughter.
8. When Manny, Luke found Gloria’s Ventriloquist’s Dummy
When Manny and Luke organized a yard sale, they found a ventriloquist’s dummy which turned out to be Gloria’s. Her dummy was called Uncle Grumpy, an old man who complains about anything. This storyline was hilarious because Uncle Grumpy resembles Jay, who was wearing a similar outfit as the dummy.
