Lucie Jones Proved Simon Cowell Wrong On ‘The X Factor UK’
For her big audition on The X Factor UK, Lucie declared that would be singing “I Will Always Love You.” Simon questioned this song choice because it is such a massive hit, one that was always beautifully sung by the late great Whitney Houston.
Lucie remained firm on her song choice. Once she began singing, she totally proved Simon wrong. She had the crowd standing up on their feet during the song as she hit every single note perfectly. Her family and friends were more than proud backstage and Simon sat with a smirk on his face at the judging panel.

“One of the hardest songs in the world to sing” Simon commented. “You didn’t try to impersonate Whitney, you just sang it your way. You’re really likable Lucie. You’re really really good, I like you.”
Lucie was voted into the next round of the competition. She made it to the live shows and was mentored by Dannii Minogue. She was eliminated in the fifth week of the live shows on The X Factor UK.
Where Is Lucie Now?
After competing on The X Factor UK, Lucie began modeling and acting. She played Cosette in the West End production of Les Misérables. She also played Jenna in the UK production of Waitress and Elle Woods in a UK tour of Legally Blonde.
In 2017, Lucie competed on Eurovision: You Decide, a show that helps determine the UK’s representative for the Eurovision Song Contest. She performed the song “Never Give Up on You” and went on to win the honor of performing at the Eurovision Song Contest 2017. Despite Lucie’s incredible performance, Portugal won the competition.
Lucie went on to marry her fellow contestant from The X Factor UK, Ethan Boroian. They hit it off during the Bootcamp stage of the competition. It wasn’t until five years later that they decided to give dating a try. “Ethan is everything I could ever have wanted in a man. I count my lucky stars I found him every single day” Lucie said in an interview.
