Seal, Kelly Clarkson Miserably Failed to Remember Their Duet Song Years Ago

America’s Got Talent guest judge Seal and Kelly Clarkson recently reflected on their performance together over a decade ago. Apparently, while they knew how amazing the moment was, they couldn’t recall the song they sang at the time.
Seal, Kelly Clarkson Couldn’t Remember The Song They Sang Together
In his latest interview with The Kelly Clarkson Show, Seal and Clarkson kicked off the conversation by looking back on their first encounter. According to them, they met during the annual automobile race Indianapolis 500 back in 2011. The two then tried to remember the song they sang, unsuccessfully doing so.
“I don’t know. It wasn’t like the ‘Star Spangled Banner’ or anything, was it?” Clarkson asked Seal.
Seal effortlessly gave up on remembering though, nevertheless saying that their performance was “good fun.” For those who are curious, the two performed the U.S. National Anthem at the Indy 500. They were accompanied by legendary musician David Foster in piano.
“It was memorable for both of us we can’t remember what we sang,” Clarkson said. “It was so long ago, I mean, like, probably 2004 or 2005.”
Subsequently, Clarkson told Seal that she feels honored to sing with him. As stated by the pop star, Seal possesses a “tone that everybody recognizes right off the bat.”
He Says He Gets “More Pleasure” in Mentoring Than Singing
In the same episode, Seal shared a childhood story on how he discovered his skill in singing. For the British singer, it takes champions in a kid’s life to encourage them to be special. With that belief, Seal sees coaching as a calling.
“I would much rather see somebody else transcend whatever’s holding them back than doing it myself. I get more pleasure out of that,” he said.
Clarkson agreed, stating that’s why she loves being part of NBC’s The Voice. Additionally, the “Breakaway” hitmaker also said that it’s “gratifying” to bring light to people, especially to someone younger.
