Singer Ishmeet Singh Died Mysteriously In The Maldives
Ishmeet’s body was found in a swimming pool at a Maldives resort. His death was originally ruled death by drowning by doctors at the Dayanand Medical College and hospital. He was there for a promotional event for the company that gave him a record deal. However, his family believes he was murdered. The singer from Ludhiana was set to have a funeral in his home city after his death. His uncle Charan Kamal Singh came forward before the funeral to say that Ishmeet’s body had injury marks on it. He pledged that he would get to the root of what really happened to Ishmeet.
“His death is not an accident alone. It could be part of a conspiracy. We want the matter investigated thoroughly. We want a case registered,” his uncle said in an interview with Zee News. His friends that were present during the time of his death gave differing statements about what really happened.

In 2017, nearly 10 years after his death, The Chief Minister of Punjab, Parkash Singh Badal, decided to honor Ishmeet in a special way. He announced that the city would be renaming Shastri Nagar Chowk of Ludhiana to Ishmeet Singh Chowk. According to The Indian Express, a replica of his trophy from Voice Of India was placed in this spot by a company called Avon Cycles. The Punjab Government also went on to build a Music Institute to honor him.
“We always wanted that a memorial or any physical symbol should be there in Ludhiana to immortalize him,” his father Gurpinder Singh told the publication. “It was during his bhog ceremony that former CM Parkash Singh Badal had announced that Shastri Nagar Chowk will be renovated and named after him. It is after a decade now that his trophy’s replica has been placed there. We are really happy.”
