Dancing with the Stars pro dancer Mark Ballas has revealed that he won’t be returning to the ballroom next season. Just last year, Ballas won Season 31 with his partner Charli D’Amelio. It was his first time competing on the show since Season 25.

Mark Ballas Is Not Returning to Dancing with the Stars

Ballas shared the news that he won’t be returning to the show after performing with D’Amelio at the final stop on the Dancing with the Stars tour in Las Vegas on Sunday. He gave a shout-out to fans, the tour cast, and his family.

“So I just want to finish by saying this will be the last time you’ll see me dance in this capacity,” Ballas told the crowd. “I’m coming to a close tonight. This is gonna be my last dance. I had the best time ever this season, and this freestyle was just a great way to finish it off.

He went on to thank fans “for a lifetime of memories,” adding, “I’m not saying it’s the end. This is just the last time I will be dancing with a partner. And I wanted to finish this with Charli, and I appreciate you guys so much.”

Ballas Has Been Undergoing Physical Therapy

Ballas has suggested that competing on Dancing with the Stars this past season was hard on his body. He told Us Weekly after his win that he wasn’t sure if he’d come back, explaining, “My body couldn’t even fathom a thought of doing this [in] six months, so I’ll let you know down the line.”

Heavy also points out that Ballas has posted on Instagram about undergoing physical therapy. Due to a back injury, Ballas reportedly had other pro dancers step in for him during some of the rehearsals last season. It’s likely this had something to do with his choice not to return.

Ballas isn’t the only one leaving the show after last season. Longtime judge Len Goodman announced he wouldn’t be returning to the panel, and dancer Cheryl Burke also shared that Season 31 was her last time on the show.
