Kelly Clarkson Gets Sued By Ex-Husband’s Family For Millions

Things are getting a bit messy for Kelly Clarkson amid her ongoing divorce from husband Brandon Blackstock. Now, she is being sued by Starstruck Management Group which is actually owned by the Blackstock family.
Why Is Kelly Clarkson Being Sued By Brandon Blackstock’s Family?
Brandon’s father Narvel Blackstock runs the management company. He just filed the claim alleging that Kelly owes them $1.4 million in unpaid commissions. These commissions are reportedly from Kelly’s earning as host of The Kelly Clarkson Show and The Voice. Kelly has maintained a close relationship with the Blackstock’s as they have managed her for 13 years.
She has gone on to be more successful as the years go by and continues to rack in more money, of which she was paying Starstruck Management Group a 15% commission. According to Yahoo News, “The suit also claims that Clarkson will owe at least $5.4 million by the end of the year.” However, there is no written agreement because this agreement was verbally done by Kelly’s lawyer in 2007 during a phone call.

Yahoo also attained the complaint from Starstruck Management Group which states “Over the course of approximately 13 years, Starstruck developed Clarkson into a mega superstar.” It continues on to say “By way of example only, Starstruck was instrumental in helping Clarkson achieve success in terms of numerous hit albums, multiple Grammy wins and nominations, her role on popular television shows like ‘The Voice’ and her own talk show. Despite Starstruck’s hard work and dedication, Clarkson has decided she is going to stop paying Starstruck for what is contractually owed.”
Kelly And Brandon Continue With Their Ongoing Divorce
News of this suit may be pretty shocking since Kelly and Brandon seem to have remained friends even after the divorce filing. She even thanked him after winning an Emmy Award for Outstanding Entertainment Talk Show Host. “Thank you so much to @BBlackstock for believing in me & convincing me to do @KellyClarksonTV show and @lifeofT for being the greatest friend/assistant #BestEmilyICouldHaveAskedFor #DaytimeEmmys2020” she tweeted. The pair also co-parent their two children, six-year-old River Rose and four-year-old Remington Alexander.
During the season premiere of The Kelly Clarkson Show, Kelly spoke publicly about her divorce. “We have four kids and divorce is never easy. And we’re both from divorced families so we know the best thing here is to protect our children and their little hearts” she said. Brandon has two kids from a previous relationship that Kelly also has become very close to.

How will this new suit with Starstruck Management Group affect Kelly and Brandon’s relationship through the divorce? That still remains to be seen. Kelly is set to return to The Voice as a judge on October 19.
