Kelly Clarkson has been keeping herself busy lately while going through a very public divorce. The singer and talk show host recently opened up about how she truly has been feeling through it all and what her next album will be about.
Kelly Clarkson Opened Up About Life During Divorce From Brandon Blackstock
Kelly sat down for an interview with TODAY, where she got pretty candid about all of the changes going on in her life. “I mean, it’s no secret, my life has been a little bit of a dumpster … personally, it’s been a little hard the last couple months” she said. Back in June, Kelly filed for divorce from her husband of nearly seven years, Brandon Blackstock. The pair have two children together, six-year-old River Rose and four-year olf Remington Alexander. “I’ve been talking to friends that have been through a divorce. I don’t know how people go through that without having some kind of outlet because it is the worst thing ever for everyone involved” she continued. The pair are currently looking towards joint custody of their children.
A source told Entertainment Tonight that being in quarantine together only made their marital problems worse, thus leading Kelly to feel like divorce was the “only option.” They cited “irreconcilable differences” as the reason for divorce. Kelly and Brandon have still remained cordial and friendly with one another even through it all. She previously won an Emmy for Outstanding Entertainment Talk Show Host for “The Kelly Clarkson Show.” She took to Twitter to say “Thank you so much to @BBlackstock for believing in me & convincing me to do @KellyClarksonTV show and @lifeofT for being the greatest friend/assistant #BestEmilyICouldHaveAskedFor.” Thanking Brandon publicly while they were going through a divorce received praise from her fans. “Kelly Clarkson is the epitome of class,” said one person replying to her tweet. The show is gearing up for its second season.
She Also Teased More About Her Upcoming Album
While many fans have felt that The Voice coach has been performing covers of songs with subliminal messages about moving on from divorce, her latest album will be full of raw emotions. “This will probably be the most personal one I’ve ever released,” she said. “And the whole record is basically every emotion you experience from the beginning of a relationship to the end of what it is now or where it is now, and it’s been very therapeutic for me.”
“It’s very honest. There’s one that my kids sing in the car,” she said. “I’m going through mixes, and I’m just, like, ‘This is weird.’ Like, it’s your relationship. I’ve never written about my life to where my kids are singing along.” Kelly’s upcoming album is certainly going to be super heartfelt, but she continues to keep herself busy as she has signed on to coach the upcoming season of The Voice. She also previously filled in for Simon Cowell as a judge on America’s Got Talent.
