The season two premiere of The Kelly Clarkson Show was full of highly anticipated content. The thing that Kelly Clarkson fans were moved the most by was how openly she talked about her divorce. Check out the clip below where The Voice coach got candid about everything that’s been going on in her life.

Kelly Clarkson Speaks On Brandon Blackstock Divorce During Talk Show

The last time Kelly was live in the studio to record her show was six months ago. Obviously a lot has changed after the coronavirus pandemic forced her to record the second half of season one of The Kelly Clarkson Show from home. Now Kelly is back in the studio with a virtual audience for season two. “As you probably know, 2020 has brought a lot of change also to my personal life,” she said during the premiere. “Definitely didn’t see anything coming that came, but what I’m dealing with is hard — it involves more than just my heart, it involves a lot of little hearts.”

She continued on to say “We have four kids and divorce is never easy. And we’re both from divorced families so we know the best thing here is to protect our children and their little hearts.” Kelly filed for divorce in June from her husband of nearly seven years, Brandon Blackstock. The pair have two children together.

“We know the best thing here is to protect our children and their little hearts,” she continued during Monday’s show. “So I’m usually very open and I usually talk about everything but in this case I will talk a little bit here and there about how it affects me personally, but probably won’t go too far into it because I’m a mama bear and my kids come first.”

Kelly Will Use Music As A Way To Talk About Her Feelings

Everybody keeps asking ‘Are you ok?’’and I am — the answer is yes,” she said. For Kelly, her next album will be a chance for her to channel everything she is feeling about her divorce into her music. “When I got upset when I was a kid I had a problem saying how I felt and my mom told me to start writing,” she said. “And that’s actually how I get my feelings out, so I probably won’t speak about it too much but you definitely will hear it musically.”

“That’s how I became a songwriter. Music has always been my outlet to get through difficult times and this year I’ve been listening to a lot of music and I’ve also been writing a lot of music as well,” she added, revealing that this week on her show will feature musicians. So far there is no word yet on an official release date for Kelly’s next album but it will surely be an emotional one.
