Over the weekend, American Idol judge Katy Perry performed the final show of her Las Vegas residency. She also welcomed some unexpected audience members after the first day of the When We Were Young music festival was canceled due to high winds.
Katy Perry Welcomes When We Were Young Attendees
In a clip from Perry’s show posted on TikTok, she joked about the festival being “gone with the wind” and mentioned that there were “a lot of orphans in here tonight.” She admitted that the emo fans of When We Were Young probably didn’t expect to be at a pop concert.
“I know you think I’m all refined and stuff, but let me remind you that in 2008, I was on the Warped Tour,” Perry told the crowd. “I stood in line for catering, I stood in line in flip-flops for shared showers.”
Another TikTok video from the show depicts Perry inviting one of the festival’s “orphans” on stage with her. The duo shows off some dance moves against the stage set before Perry suggests, “Should we just start a mosh pit? Should we mosh?”
The video then shows Perry, the fan, and the dancers on stage jumping up and down together. It’s especially entertaining to watch because her dancers are in some ridiculous costumes.

Is Perry Going on Tour Again Soon?
Recently, Perry teased that she plans to release another album and possibly go on another world tour after her residency ends. She added that going on tour again “will be so great.”
The singer was initially attracted to the concept of a Las Vegas residency because it allowed her more time to be with her daughter, 2-year-old Daisy. As she said, “I really wanted to be able to strike more of a balance—to have a child and take her to preschool—but also be artistic and play with that energy.”
Perry’s last studio album was 2020’s Smile, so it would also be great to hear some new music from her. Not to mention, she’s returning for Season 21 of American Idol, which is expected to premiere next year.
