The CMT Music Award nominations were announced on Wednesday, with several nods for American Idol stars of past and present. That includes Kane Brown, who was rejected by the show years ago and now boasts the most nominations with four.
Kane Brown Earns Most CMT Music Award Nominations
Brown is nominated for Video of the Year and Male Video of the Year for his song “One Mississippi.” He’s also nominated twice in the category CMT Performance of the Year, once for “Three Wooden Crosses” and again for his involvement in Nelly’s “Ride Wit Me” also featuring Blanco Brown and Breland.
Brown’s friend Lauren Alaina was the runner-up on American Idol Season 10. He was inspired to audition himself, but was rejected. He explained that the judges “didn’t need another Scotty McCreery.” He also appeared on The X Factor, but quit when the show wanted to put him into a boy band.
Now he’s nominated against current judge Luke Bryan, whose song “Waves” is also up for Male Video of the Year. Bryan’s song “Buy Dirt” with Jordan Davis is also nominated for Collaborative Video of the Year. But he and Brown aren’t the only American Idol stars nominated.
