Reading Time: 2 minutes

America’s Got Talent Season 10 finalist Oz Pearlman was recently featured in a segment on 60 Minutes, focused on his mentalist act. Although it might seem like he’s telepathic, Pearlman insists that he doesn’t have a mind-reading ability.

AGT Mentalist Oz Pearlman Insists He Can’t Read Minds

Oz Pearlman finished Season 10 of America’s Got Talent in third place with his apparent ability to read people’s minds. However, the performer insists that he doesn’t have any supernatural powers, telling NFL player Russell Wilson at the Robin Hood Foundation gala, “I don’t read minds, I read people.”

“The lie is that I can read your mind,” Pearlman said during his interview with 60 Minutes, insisting that he is “not a psychic or supernatural.” Despite this, he shared that he has had “CEOs of major Fortune 100 companies who have called me and say, ‘Can you help me on negotiating a deal soon?'”

Rather than doing anything supernatural, Pearlman studies people’s body language to figure out what they’re thinking. As he explained, “I’ve figured out how to kinda take a piece of information that seems too impossible, I can build up in a big way, and create a lot more of a limited subset than you think.”

Pearlman’s Talent Has Gone Viral

Oz Pearlman’s mentalist routine has recently gone viral. In June, he accurately predicted podcaster Joe Rogan’s ATM PIN code. The performer laughed at the suggestion that he could have had someone follow Rogan to get the code.

“If you think that I followed Joe Rogan around to get his ATM PIN code, I love that answer,” Pearlman said. “But no, I did not follow Joe Rogan around. If you have these theories, that means I’m in your brain. I’m taking up real estate in your mind, and you’re thinking about it.”

Pearlman said he would describe his talent as “a subset of magic,” calling it “magic of the mind.” As he explained, “How you’re gonna think is shockingly under my control. It’s almost like the way a puppet gets moved around.”

The mentalist has also gone viral for his work with NFL and college football teams, as coaches ask him to help the athletes bond with their teammates. His new book is titled Read Your Mind: Proven Habits for Success from the World’s Greatest Mentalist.
