JoJo Siwa Graces 2023 Industry Dance Awards, Joins Board of Directors Against Cancer

Dancing With The Stars alum JoJo Siwa recently attended the 2023 Industry Dance Awards in Los Angeles, California. At the same event, the YouTube star also announced that she’s officially joined the board of Dancers Against Cancer (DAC).

On October 18, the Dance Moms alum took the time to be present at the annual event that celebrates dance. Siwa uploaded a series of snapshots on Instagram to give a glimpse of what happened during the ceremony.
“What an incredible night at the 2023 Industry Dance Awards. This event has meant so much to me for so many years (scroll and you’ll see what I mean…),” she wrote.
In the subsequent snaps, Siwa shared some throwback photos showing her years of participation in the event. In the second to the last photo, she was posing with her former DWTS partner, Jenna Johnson.
For the night, Siwa wore a neon orange and pink color-blocked blazer. She matched the same with a pair of metallic shorts. To complete the look, the dance slipped on Alexander McQueen glitter sneakers.
Meanwhile, DWTS host Julianne Hough is also present in the awards show. She attended the event to pay tribute to legendary professional ballroom dancer Len Goodman. The television personality was donning a black oversized blazer with a sheer lace dress underneath.
The Industry Dance Awards show is not only a celebration of dance, but also a benefit program that supports the fight against cancer. Over the years, Siwa has recognized the DAC’s mission and has willingly involved herself in its foundation activities.
She Says Joining the DAC Board is a “New Chapter” of Her Life
Following the night, the pop sensation has officially been welcomed as part of DAC’s Board of Directors. With her recent induction unto the pack, Siwa is expectedly to boost the visibility of the organization’s mission.
“Dance has given me everything, and now it’s my chance to give back to a community that means the world to me,” she said. “By joining the Dancers Against Cancer Board of Directors, I can channel my love for dance towards a cause that resonates deeply with so many, including myself.”
In her Instagram post, Siwa expressed her gratitude for the work that DAC has done in the last years. According to her, DAC is “one of the best foundations I know.”
“This is a new chapter of my life that I am so excited to dive deep in. thank you Rick and the rest of the incredible DAC board for having me join your beautiful family, I promise to do you and DAC proud. for my entire life… I Am Dancer Against Cancer,” she wrote.
According to DAC’s VP for Sponsorship Development Adrian Ruiz, Siwa’s “vibrant series and vision” are exactly what the organization needs to amplify its reach. As Siwa officially takes the higher charge, Riz supposes that the will herald a new era for DAC.
Dance Against Cancer aims to foster an alliance withing the dance community. They seek to offer both financial and emotional support to dance educators, choreographers, dancers, and their families who are impacted by cancer. Since its foundation in 2012, DAC has proudly encouraged over $2 million in donations.
