Jennifer Hudson, Kelly Clarkson Are Up for the Same People’s Choice Award

The 2022 People’s Choice Awards nominations were announced on Wednesday, and two American Idol alums are going head to head in the Daytime Talk Show category. Kelly Clarkson and Jennifer Hudson are both nominated. Several of our favorite talent shows also received nods.
Jennifer Hudson, Kelly Clarkson Up for People’s Choice Award
Hudson shared the news of her nomination on Instagram Wednesday, saying it’s “such an honor to be recognized amongst this amazing group of nominees.” That includes Kelly Clarkson, who first kicked off her talk show in 2019. Hudson is currently in her first season as a host.
Hudson and Clarkson are up against The Ellen DeGeneres Show, which aired its final episode earlier this year. It’s very likely that DeGeneres will take home the prize, having won last year in the same category. The show has actually won 13 times over the years, with DeGeneres having won 25 People’s Choice Awards in total.
Other nominated talk shows in the category are Good Morning America, Live with Kelly and Ryan, The Drew Barrymore Show, The View, and Today with Hoda and Jenna. We’ll find out who wins when the ceremony airs December 6 on NBC and E!

Will Lizzo Win for Competition Show?
The People’s Choice Award for the Competition Show of 2022 has eight nominees: America’s Got Talent, American Idol, The Bachelorette, Dancing with the Stars, Lizzo’s Watch Out for the Big Grrrls, The Masked Singer, RuPaul’s Drag Race, and The Voice.
Last year, the winner in this category was The Voice. The rest of the nominees were mostly the same, except instead of Watch Out for the Big Grrrls, The Bachelor was nominated. Could Lizzo pull out a win like she did at the Emmys earlier this year?
In September, the first season of Lizzo’s Amazon Prime show won the Emmy for Outstanding Competition Program. Her win ended a streak held by RuPaul’s Drag Race. Other nominees included The Voice and The Amazing Race.
The awards also feature a category for Competition Contestant of 2022. The nominees include American Idol winner Noah Thompson, Dancing with the Stars contestants Chari D’Amelio and Selma Blair, America’s Got Talent winners The Mayyas, The Masked Singer winner Teyana Taylor, and Drag Race stars Bosco and Willow Pill.
Last year’s PCA host Kenan Thompson is returning to host this year’s ceremony. Fans can vote for their favorites on the website or on Twitter ahead of the show on December 12.
