Blake Shelton Wins Country Artist of 2021 at The People’s Choice Awards

Blake Shelton won big last night at the 2021 People’s Choice Awards. The Voice coach won Country Artist of 2021 right after the show’s semifinal eliminations. Shelton is no stranger to the fan favorite award show. He has won a total of seven People’s Choice Awards over the years.
The crooner also performed his latest single “Come Back as a Country Boy,” which had the crowd on their feet. The single can be found on Shelton’s “Body Language” deluxe album. His twelfth studio album dropped on December 3.
In 2017, Shelton’s “If I’m Honest” album beat the likes of fellow The Voice coach Ariana Grande along with Beyonce and Drake for Favorite Album. He became the first country artist to win that award. Since joining The Voice, Shelton’s popularity continues to rise.
The Voice also won last night for Competition Show of 2021 beating out American Idol, America’s Got Talent, and The Masked Singer.
“I swear, the longer I go on the more I realize that all these award shows, the fan-voted awards are the ones that mean the most to me,” Shelton said while accepting his award.

The People’s Choice Award winners are voted for by the fans. It is one of the only award shows to use this voting system. Other award shows have a member voting system, which usually causes tons of backlash by fans. Even popular artists call out award shows on how nominations and winners are chosen.
Artists like Zayn, Halsey, and The Weekend, recently called out The Grammys for the lack of transparency and politics that are involved in order to be recognized by what is dubbed music’s greatest honor.

Shelton’s fans cannot seem to get enough of him and constantly shows up to support him. He is the longest running judge on The Voice. Shelton also has eight wins on the singing competition show, more than any other coach.
Maybe it is his down to earth southern gentleman charm that keeps Shelton in the spotlight. Maybe people have fallen in love with his relationship to Gwen Stefani. Starting his career at only 15 years old, Shelton continues to live up to his reputation as a country boy.
