I Can See Your Voice judge Cheryl Hines recently spoke out about supporting her husband Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s campaign for president. Kennedy announced his candidacy for the 2024 Democratic nomination back in April.

“I support Bobby and I want to be there for him, and I want him to feel loved and supported by me,” Hines told the New York Times. “And at the same time, I don’t feel the need to go to every political event, because I do have my own career.”

Meanwhile, Kennedy told the outlet that he views Hines as “an enormous asset to me” in his campaign for president, saying, “I think ultimately if I get elected, Cheryl will have played a huge role in that.”

Kennedy has made headlines for his controversial views, including being anti-vaccine. He and his nonprofit, Children’s Health Defense, were even kicked off Instagram for spreading misinformation during the pandemic.

In January 2022, Hines tweeted, “My husband’s opinions are not a reflection of my own. While we love each other, we differ on many current issues.” She later called Kennedy’s comment that things are worse for people today than they were for Anne Frank “reprehensible.”

Kennedy Wanted to Announce Their Separation

Kennedy told the New York Times, “I saw how it was affecting her life and I said to her, ‘We should just announce that we are separated,’ so that you can have some distance from me.” He said he felt “so desperate about protecting her at a time where my statements and my decisions were impacting her.”

When Kennedy told Hines that he was thinking about running for office, Hines said it was “definitely a discussion.” She said Kennedy told her, “If you don’t want me to do it, I won’t.” However, she agreed with his choice to run.

Hines told the Times that she sees “both sides of the vaccine situation.” She said she hasn’t lost any jobs due to Kenney’s candidacy, but “there was a project I’m involved in where there was a pause for discussion about how his candidacy might affect what we are doing but it has been resolved.”
