Charlie Puth Recalls Making Out with Meghan Trainor in 2015
Perhaps no one will ever forget the steamy kiss that Puth and Trainor shared onstage during the American Music Awards. This scene, undeniably, is already embedded in pop culture history. And, just recently, we’ve been made aware that the two shared a kiss away from the spotlight years back.
Earlier this May, Trainor revealed that they also locked lips when they were recording “Marvin Gaye” in the studio. Talking with Interview Magazine, Puth has verified there was indeed a smooch that took place after their onstage kiss.
“I had just moved to L.A. and yeah, I’m not denying that happened. That definitely did happen once in 2015,” he said.
The kiss apparently began with some liquor. At the time, Puth wasn’t used to drinking vodka.
“I also don’t think I’d ever had vodka before — Grey Goose vodka,” he said.
The “Light Switch” singer mentioned that he has just moved out of his parents’ house to pursue his Hollywood career at that time. Hence, years ago, life was too surreal for him.
He’s Still Friends with Her Today
During that same time, Trainor insisting a vocal collaboration with him felt like a dream. Puth went on and explained that he didn’t know the concept of a runner before.
“I’m in this fancy recording studio where I didn’t know what a runner was. They said, ‘What do you want?’ And I was like, ‘Oh, I’ll just call and I’ll pick up a pizza for myself.’ They were like, ‘No, we’ll get it for you.’ I felt like I was on top of the world,” he said.
He then said it became a no brainer for him to say “yes” if Meghan Trainor wanted to kiss him. According to the singer, he believes Trainor is “one of the most brilliant songwriters” he knows. He then stated that he’s in love with her new song “Mother.”
“She’s just so good melodically and has such a classic approach to songwriting,” Puth said. “That’s probably why we got along. We’re still friends to this day.”
