Jake Zyrus, formerly known as Charice Pempengco prior to his gender transition, has released his cover of the TikTok famous song on October 5, 2022. With a dark long couch and sepia-toned photographs as background, the singer showed off his low and high notes.
Zyrus is obviously feeling the music based on his gestures. The way he sang the sensual lyrics of the song was cozy, perfectly complementing the vibe of the production.
“Under the Influence” is the third track in Chris Brown’s album Indigo, which was released back in 2019. The song has gained immense attention this year after its repeated use in TikTok.

What has Jake Zyrus been up to now?
Jake Zyrus is slowly but surely rebuilding his career after he has reintroduced himself as a transgender man in 2017. When he transitioned, several were shocked, even disappointed that he altered his original voice. Nevertheless, he seemed more comfortable with his body now, and that’s what ultimately matters.
At present, he has been releasing song covers and collaborating with musicians in the Philippines. Last September, he released a cover of “Glimpse of Us” by Joji with Cheesa, a Filipino artist. He also released his version of The Kid LAROI and Justin Bieber’s “Stay” last week.
In a GQ Magazine feature, Jake Zyrus shared his transition story to inspire kids and victims of sexual abuse to have courage like him.
“I just want to sing for people,” he said. “My dream is that someday, they’ll say, yeah, the music is still there. Whether it’s Charice or Jake Zyrus, I’m a singer.”
The former X Factor Philippines judge currently resides in California and is now planning for a tour in the United States. Fans are happy to see his return to the limelight making national headlines.
