Harry Connick Jr. Will Star in The Islander
In The Islander, Connick Jr. takes on the role of a down-on-his-luck rockstar who embarks on a new adventure. He moves to a remote cliffside house on an island, sight unseen, only to uncover an unexpected twist—his new home has a somewhat unfortunate reputation. Through a series of charming mishaps, the film explores the idea that perhaps love can be found in the most unexpected places.
The film is a product of the talented Stelana Kliris, who not only wrote the script but also directed and produced the movie. Hailing from Cyprus, her Meraki Films banner played a crucial role in bringing The Islander to life. The production received support from Jupiter Peak Productions, with Steven Shapiro and Keith Arnold also contributing as producers.
Additionally, the project has garnered backing from the Cyprus Deputy Ministry of Culture and the Cyprus Film Commission’s incentives scheme. Besides Connick Jr., the film boasts an ensemble cast featuring Agni Scott, Ali Fumiko Whitney, and Tony Demetriou, each contributing to the film’s charm and appeal.
Connick Jr.’s career includes roles in notable films like Memphis Belle, Hope Floats, and appearances on television shows such as Will & Grace, Bug, and Law & Order: Special Victims Unit. This year, he added a stint as a judge on Australian Idol to his diverse portfolio.
