After eight weeks of playing detectives, The Masked Dancer UK fans and judges have finally unmasked the celebrity behind Pearly King. DWTS judge Bruno Tonioli proved everyone right (and wrong) when he was revealed underneath the lion’s head off.
Bruno Tonioli Secures Bronze, Unmasked as Pearly King
The Masked Dancer season two has recently reached its finale, inevitably revealing the remaining masked celebrities in the series. Apart of the remaining unmaskings is former Strictly Come Dancing judge Bruno Tonioli. His costume, Pearly King placed in third.
The hints given for this costume were feathers, glitter, and paso doble. Each of these hints directly pertained to his past on Strictly Come Dancing. With his striking moves, it wasn’t difficult to assume Pearly King had a superb dancing history.
However, nothing was sure until the final reveal. Thus, although fans have been anticipating to see Tonioli’s face inside the costume, it was still fairly shocking to validate their guess.
Some Fans Have Guessed the Person Behind Pearly King Ahead of its Reveal
Even before the finale, a number of fans was fairly convinced that Pearly King was the DWTS judge. Meanwhile, other fans guessed Danny Dyer, David Dickinson, and Shane Richie.
EastEnder’s Danny Dyer was an early guess because of the clue “streets of London.” Subsequently, fans connected it to the word ‘East End’. However, keen observation would also spot Tonioli’s coincidental disappearance in Strictly Come Dancing, making him a reasonable assumption.
When Tonioli exposed himself, the DWTS judge joked about not reading his contract well enough.
“I said, ‘The Masked Singer, oh yeah I’ll do it. Dancer?? You’ve got to be kidding me!'” he said. “You should always read your contract.”
In addition, Tonioli expressed that Pearly King had a “swagger.” He considers his performances as something out of his comfort zone, despite his impressive dancing skills.
The Masked Dancer crowned Scissors who turned out to be Glee star Heather Morris. Meanwhile, behind her was Onomatopoeia who later unmasked himself as Coyote Ugly actor Adam Garcia.
At present, Bruno Tonioli will continue his role as judge in season 31 of Dancing With The Stars. The show streams live at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT on Disney+.
