Reliving The Most Exciting ‘The Masked Dancer’ Reveals

Today we’re paying tribute to the short lived Fox series, The Masked Dancer. Even though this series was only around for one year, it’s hard to forget some of the celebrities that suited up for this competition.
In late 2020, Fox created The Masked Dancer, a dance based spin-off of The Masked Singer. Most aspects of this series was the same as The Masked Singer. On The Masked Dancer, celebrities battle in head-to-toe costumes and face masks that conceal their identities. Reports state that the idea behind this series came from a recurring segment on The Ellen Degeneres Show.
With a new series comes new judges, Ken Jeong, Paula Abdul, Brian Austin Green, and Ashley Tisdale were featured on the judging panel. The Office actor, Craig Robinson was the host of this spin off. Even though this series only had one season, we love to remember it for all that it was. Relive the five most exciting reveals from The Masked Dancer with us.
1. Cotton Candy – Gabby Douglas
The Masked Dancer fans were shocked to see a 3-time Olympic Gold Medalist win a dance series. Douglas competed in the Summer Olympics in 2012 and 2016 as an artistic gymnast. Since Douglas won this series at the age of 25, she was the third youngest winner ever in any Masked Universe series. The first was Cody Simpson as Robot on The Masked Singer Australia, while the second was Priscilla Alcântara as Unicórnio on The Masked Singer Brazil.
2. Exotic Bird – Jordin Sparks
American Idol alum Jordin Sparks proved that she’s more than just a singer on The Masked Dancer. Fans were impressed by Sparks’s moves on the dance floor, she was actually good! Even though she was able to fool many fans, she didn’t fool Abdul or Tisdale.
3. Tulip – Mackenzie Ziegler
Since this dancer is well versed in the art, she took home third place. Tulip, also known as, Mackenzie Ziegler rose to fame alongside her sister, Maddie Ziegler, on the dance series, Dance Moms. Ahead of The Masked Dancer, she appeared on Dancing With the Stars Juniors in 2018.
4. Ice Cube – Bill Nye
The Masked Dancer managed to get the most popular scientist, Bill Nye, on the series. Even though Nye didn’t last very long in the competition, fans went insane over his unmasking. Jeong was the only judge on the panel to guess Ice Cube’s identity correct.
5. Sloth – Maksim Chmerkovskiy
Sloth was yet another experienced dancer that made it to the top of the competition. This celebrity was revealed as Dancing With the Stars champion Maksim Chmerkovskiy. Both Green and Abdul were able to guess Sloth’s identity correct.
