RuPaul’s Drag Race star Eureka! says they are “embarrassed” as they inform fans that they have checked into rehab. The entertainer took to Twitter to tell their nearly 200,000 followers that they have been seeking treatment for addiction and mental health issues. An outpouring of love and support followed the announcement.
“I’m in rehab. It was time for me to get my addiction and mental self under control. I made this decision and it’s been really hard to be honest about it,” the drag queen tweeted.
Like others who face addiction, the taboo topic is hard to accept. The Season 9 Rupaul’s Drag Race contestant is no different.
“I’m embarrassed! These are some of my first steps. I love you all so much!” they opened up to their fans.
Eureka! revealed that they have been in treatment for over a week and that they already feel clearer.
The entertainer apologized to themself, but can see the light at the end of the tunnel. Fans of Drag Race will remember Eureka! as the first queen to leave the competition due to a medical reason, after tearing their ACL in Episode 2 on Season 9. Eureka! received an open invitation by RuPaul to return on the tenth season of RuPaul’s Drag Race, where they were the runner-up.
