Christina Aguilera was the star of the show during last night’s Billboard Women in Music Event. The former The Voice coach was honored for her legendary career with the magazine’s first NFT cover. The “Genie in a Bottle” singer discussed her past music, being a mom, and what fans can expect next.

The singer wore a plunging leather blazer and showed off her signature blonde big hair. Aguilera was playful while she discussed how honored she was to be one of three on Billboard Magazine’s NFT covers.

“It was exciting to see the process unravel,” the singer said. “It is in great company, I am very honored.”

Mariah Carey and Madonna join Aguilera with their NFT covers as well. Billboard created the covers to ensure that women had a place in the future of music. The magazine partnered with World of Women, a company co-founded and launched in July by NFT artist Yam Karkai.

Aguilera was excited to sit back and watch artists such as Doja Cat and Olivia Rodrigo perform. The inspiring event mimics Aguilera’s two decade career. When the singer first took over pop music, she was a young 18 year old owning her womanhood.

“After the success of my first record at that point I really wanted to do music that really implies the messages that are important in my life,” the singer said about the start of her career.

Aguilera has always been strategic when putting out music. She wanted to show her rebellious side with albums like Stripped, but have a song with a message like in her single “Beautiful.”

“The Stripped record was the first time I felt like i was stripping away anything this industry tries to force feed you,” Aguilera mentions.

Aguilera has no issues adapting with the times as the music industry changes. Although the mother of two has sold over 75 million albums worldwide, her daughter is still trying to figure out who her famous mother is. The singer had to go into mom mode when one of her daughter’s classmates asked her if her mother was famous.

“It is about creativity and the process. I want that to inspire her,” Aguilera said about addressing fame with her daughter.

With over 20 years in the industry the singer continues to reinvent herself. Aguilera’s recently released La Fuerza EP has the former Voice coach going back to her Spanish roots. The project is just one of three new EP’s she has on the way. The second chapter of La Fuerza will address vulnerability with the third having a theme that will be all about healing.
