America’s Got Talent is officially back! Now that AGT is back for its 20th season on NBC, there’s been a huge twist to the show itself. Instead of 4 or 5 Golden Buzzers, this season will feature 9. Singer Charity Lockhart is among the recipients of the season.
Who is Mel B’s Golden Buzzer Recipient Charity Lockhart?
It’s no secret that America’s Got Talent fans love meeting a new singer. Mel B is apart of that clientele that loves a new singer, since she gave one of her Golden Buzzers to new singer Charity Lockhart. Here’s everything you need to know about the singer.
Charity Lockhart is a singer with a six octave voice who began her career after winning a $1,000 Arizona competition, while living in her car with her kids. She embarked on an “extraordinary journey” when she created an Aretha Franklin Tribute that was “enjoyed and approved by not only Detroit but also The Franklin Family.”
The singer then decided to bring her act onto cruise lines. Her show, that opened in 2021 on Celebrity Edge Cruise, grew to be rated one of the “best received acts on the international waters” she also was named 2023 Cruise Entertainer of the Year.
According to Charity’s website, she worked with producers and songwriters of Aretha Franklin recordings. She also recorded with Warner Bros on movie, tv and commercial soundtracks. The singer has also opened and performed with H.E.R, Cece Peniston, George Benson, Kirk Franklin, Yolanda Adams, Fred Hammond and more. She has sold out shows in Osaka, Kyoto, Caesars Palace, Wild Horse Pass Casino, Cleveland Playhouse, Las Vegas, Jazz Festival and Parx Casino and more.
Charity Dedicates Her Performances to a Good Cause
While working as a tribute of Aretha Franklin, Whitney Houston and more, Charity blends a mix of pop, soul, gospel, and classical hits. Her own motivational story is said to grab the heart strings of the audience.
In the past, Charity has won awards from Ronald McDonald House and collaborated with organizations that encourages students and families of homelessness and abuse to give life changing tools for the future. She is currently working on The Live to Love Project. This project launched when Charity purchased 2.3 acres of land to build two homes to help other homeless families transition into a better situation.
Charity’s mission with this project is “to use her gifts to spread love, encourage others to realize their blessings, and pay it forward to help people live their best lives.” According to the GoFundMe‘s listing, “this initiative is dedicated to providing safe and supportive housing for two families, offering not just a home but a pathway to stability and growth.” This project is fully funded by Charity without government assistance.
