Before his performance, Benjamin told the judges that he was active-duty military for seven years. He then shared that he “made the really scary choice to get out of the military and take a chance on myself, because I believe in my ability to be a performer.”
Benjamin then sat down at his keyboard and started singing “Pink Pony Club” by Chappell Roan, drawing cheers from the crowd. He had the judges smiling as he showed off his impressive vocal talent, and his mom could be seen watching proudly from the audience.
Howie Mandel said Benjamin’s version of the song “could be a hit.” Sofia Vergara called it “the perfect audition.” Simon Cowell told him, “There’s something about you I really like. I think you’ve got a great heart.”
Benjamin received four “yes” votes from the panel to move on in the competition. After leaving the AGT stage, he ran to give his mom a hug.
