Carson Daly Spills Details About Blake Shelton’s Tearful Wedding Song for Gwen Stefani

None of us #Shefani fans were invited to Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani’s wedding this weekend, but Carson Daly was. We’re all living vicariously through him now. The Voice host did spill some major details about the big day that is now not-so-secretive. The Today Show literally gave Carson his own segment to talk about everything that happened at the couple’s wedding.
Carson Daly Reveals Major Details About Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani’s Wedding
Daly said that he felt like an uncle ready to blab about the wedding to the whole world. He officiated the wedding ceremony that he said was “a perfect blend of country and glamour.” Shelton and Stefani tied the knot at Shelton’s ranch in Oklahoma. They stood in front of a small group of family and friends at the July 3 nuptials.
Gwen looked absolutely stunning in a custom silk and tulle Vera Wang gown for the ceremony. Her veil had her sons Kingston, 15, Zuma, 12, and Apollo, 7, and Shelton’s names embroidered on it at the bottom. Shelton went more casual and donned a pair of blue jeans with a tuxedo jacket. The couple said their “I do’s” in a chapel that was built on the property just for their special day. Daly went on to describe the wedding as “perfectly them.”
“The whole weekend and the marriage itself it was as elegant and refined and cool as Gwen is and it was as country and down home and fun as Blake is and they just work,” Carson added. “They’re an unlikely pair. They’re like if you paired delicious fried chicken with a glass of champagne.”
Shelton Wrote Stefani a Song for His Wedding Vows
Ironically, Daly said that he did not want to give away too many details about the big day. Daly recalled how he went to the couple months ago to convince them to write their own vows for the ceremony. They finally agreed to do so to make the wedding that much more personal. When it came to Stefani’s vows, there was not a dry eye in the house. Shelton had a tough act to follow.
“Blake starts by saying ‘you know Gwen’s always giving me a hard time about not writing enough songs so I wrote a song,'” he said. “Guitar comes in frame, stool, next thing you know he wrote her a song and he sings her a song while he’s crying that he wrote specifically for her.”
Daly has been friends with the couple even beyond meeting them on The Voice. He has known Stefani for 25 years and considers Shelton to be like his brother. Daly and Stefani have always been connected by faith and felt it was perfect to officiate their wedding. He is even trying to encourage Shelton to record and release the song that he wrote for Stefani on their wedding day.
I love these two together. They are the most unlikely people to get together on the surface, but when you look deeper they have such a beautiful relationship so full of love. I pray for them to be together till death do they part.
