Former Dancing with the Stars pro Artem Chigvintsev has claimed that his domestic violence arrest earlier this year caused him to lose $100,000 in income. The August incident involved his estranged wife Nikki Garcia, who has since filed for divorce.
Artem Chigvintsev Says He Lost $100K in Income
TMZ reports that, according to court documents, Chigvintsev says he was still working as a professional dancer despite not being invited back to DWTS this season. He says his dance projects lasted 20 weekends each.
However, Chigvintsev claims that he lost job opportunities due to his arrest, which added up to $100,000 in lost income. The dancer added that he also lost revenue from social media, which he says Garcia “continues to benefit from as she was more worried about her career when she lied to the police, than mine.”
According to Garcia, on the morning of Chigvintsev’s arrest, he allegedly screamed at her over their son Matteo’s breakfast. She responded by throwing a pair of Matteo’s shoes at him. He then allegedly took Matteo upstairs with him, and when Garcia tried to enter the room, Chigvintsev tackled her and pinned her to the floor.
Chigvintsev ended up calling 911 but later canceled the request. Police were required to respond, at which point they arrested the dancer after reportedly observing injuries on the alleged victim. Charges against Chigvintsev have since been dropped.

The Couple Was Granted Restraining Orders
Last month, both Chigvintsev and Garcia were granted restraining orders against each other. Chigvintsev claims that he called 911 the day of the incident “seeking protection from his wife’s persistent aggression.”
Garcia has filed for divorce from Chigvintsev, who has filed for joint custody of their son, as well as spousal support. According to Garcia’s restraining order, Chigvintsev is prohibited from contacting her or coming within 100 feet of her or Matteo.
However, Chigvintsev has been granted visitation, and the couple is able to exchange Matteo for court-ordered visits. Due to his alleged loss of income, Chigvintsev is reportedly requesting that Garcia pay for his out-of-pocket expenses and rent.
