‘American Idol’s Avalon Young Drops New Song Amid Brain Cancer Battle

Season 15 American Idol standout Avalon Young is calling on her fans for help. The 26-year-old is currently battling brain cancer and is seeking medical bill assistance. She is keeping her spirits high throughout her treatment with the release of her new single “She Don’t.”
‘American Idol’ Star Avalon Young Calls Upon Fans for Help While Battling Brain Cancer
Avalon posted about her brain cancer diagnosis on Instagram in February along with a picture of her brain scan. Her symptoms began with having three seizures a day starting in November 2020.
After doctors treated her for anxiety and serotonin issues, an MRI showed that there was more going on internally than she originally thought. They discovered she had a mass legion tumor on her left frontal lobe. She underwent a 16-hour surgery to remove the tumor that was the size of a peach.
The surgeons removed the majority of the tumor, however, doctors feel a second surgery is necessary with radiation and chemotherapy to follow. Avalon has very minimal health insurance and is calling on fans to help her with the financial burdens of her medical bills.
Her family started a GoFundMe page which has raised over $78,000 of its $100,000 goal so far. People from all over the world are lending their support to the independent artist who has been rocking a surgery scar on her head.
“Unreal to receive this news at the age of 26. Everything is gonna be okay, the journey is gonna be wild, but I’m ready for it,” she wrote on Instagram. “Love you guys a ton. F*ck cancer.”
Avalon is hoping that this second surgery will remove the tumor for good.
“After this next surgery, they are going to see where things take us, and they are hoping the radiation will do what it does,” Avalon told TMZ.

Avalon’s second surgery is set for May 27. Leading up to the surgery, she is celebrating the release of her new single “She Don’t.” She promised her fans that if the song ends up on the charts, she will dye her hair pink. To help chart this song, continue to listen to it on Apple Music and iTunes.
Avalon was known for her feel-good performances on American Idol that brought her all the way to the Top 8. Her swagger and infectious personality always had the audience erupting into cheers and she exudes this same level of confidence in “She Don’t.”
