‘American Idol’ Will Return With Results of the Comeback Performances

American Idol may be taking the week off, but they will return on May 2 with a huge night filled with action. The show will start with the voting results of last week’s Comeback performance.

This season, Idol surprised fans by announcing a surprise twist by bringing back ten contestants from Season 18 for the chance to perform live on the Idol stage. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, last season was held virtually meaning none of the contestants got to experience performing live on television. While the twist has been polarizing, the contestants themselves seem to be enjoying the shake up.

After the Season 18 recipient of the most votes is announced, the Top 10 (including the new Season 18 addition) will perform a Disney song. The voting will take place in real-time, with the Top 7 performers announced at the end of the show.

The two-hour event will take place Sunday, May 2 at 8 p.m. ET on ABC.

In Place of ‘Idol’ the Oscars, ‘Sesame Street’ Will Air

On Sunday, the 93rd Oscars will air live and in-person at Union Station Los Angeles and the Dolby Theatre at Hollywood & Highland Center in Hollywood, Cali. Some virtual elements will also be incorporated to the show’s traditional format.

Presenters include Laura Dern, Joaquin Phoenix , Brad Pitt, and Renée Zellweger among others.
