‘American Idol’ Winners Who We Want to See Coach on ‘The Voice’
Reading Time: 3 minutes
Kelly Clarkson shocked the world when she chose to jump from her American Idol family and become a coach on The Voice. Before Clarkson joined there had been rumblings that she would become the first Idol winner to become a judge on the hit show. The singer became a full time coach on Season 14 of The Voice and has continued ever since.
Here are some of our favorite Idol champions who would fit in as a judge on the competition show.
Carrie Underwood
The Season 4 American Idol champion is one of the most successful winners in history. Underwood has gone on to become a legend in country music, and she has yet to slow down. The Voice prides itself on having coaches who are great technical singers who have longevity in the music industry. Underwood meets both of those requirements. The “Before He Cheats” singer has racked up multiple Grammys and has broken every record in the country music award space. With an upcoming Las Vegas residency, Underwood would fit right in.
Fantasia
The Season 3 champion will help usher in a new audience for The Voice. Great singers are usually showcased on the show, especially country singers. Fantasia has owned R&B music since her Idol win. The singer brings in a certain ear that could help introduce viewers to an almost forgotten music genre. Fantasia won Idol during the golden years of the singing competition show, so she knows what it takes to capture the audience and standout. It doesn’t hurt that the singer has racked up multiple awards and sold millions of albums while doing so.
Jordin Sparks
Make no mistake, Jordin Sparks can sing! Although she may not have had the illustrious careers like some of American Idol’s earlier winners, the singer was still a vocal beast on her season. Since her win Sparks has seen chart success and sold plenty of records. What works for the “No Air” singer is that she has youth on her side. The Voice will always want to stay fresh and bring in a younger audience. Sparks still have that appeal.
Phillip Phillips
The Season 11 Idol champion will bring the coolness that former coach Adam Levine brought to The Voice. Phillips has been able to occupy the indie music scene while still earning success. He still sells out tours across the country and will be able to speak of engaging with an audience through intimate settings.
Chayce Beckham
Where Idol Season 19 winner lacks with longevity he makes up for with his talent. Chayce would be able to replace the king of The Voice Blake Shelton whenever the country crooner decides to call it quits. Both Chayce and Shelton are extremely down-home and like Shelton, Chayce can help mentor the country singers who take on The Voice stage. Chayce is also a new singing competition winner and can help guide contestants on what voters now relate to.
The difference here is, The Voice is all about promoting the JUDGES careers, not really finding & mentoring new talent. How many Voice contestants have gone on to have measurable careers?
