Noah Thompson Explains His Plans After Winning ‘American Idol’

Following the American Idol finale, Noah Thompson talked about what’s next in his career. While he’s excited to have won the competition, he’s open about wanting some time with family to process the competition as a whole.
On Sunday May 22, Noah Thompson was announced as the winner of American Idol, with HunterGirl as the runner up. While this was a giant moment for the 20 year old, he shared that he was shocked to hear his name announced.
“Truthfully, I came into this competition not even thinking I’d get a golden ticket, so to hear my name at the end that was amazing,” he said.
Noah came to the competition because his friend believed in his abilities and he has since proven himself as America’s next country star. In his post Idol homecoming, the singer plans to see his friend.
“Imma go home and give him a big old hug and thank him for all of this,” he said. “Arthur’s the one that believed in me throughout this whole process when I couldn’t believe in myself.”
Noah’s American Idol homecoming concert was attended by 5,000 fans of the singer. While some fans are native to Louisa, Kentucky, others travelled great lengths to see the winner. Now that the competition is over, the singer is set to take a leisurely approach to his hometown stardom. He intends to spend time with his family before exploring his new found fame.
American Idol‘s Newest Winner Takes to Social Media to Thank Supporters
Noah was shocked beyond words the moment his name was announced in the American Idol finale. He practically speechless when he appeared on American Idol‘s Instagram story that night. Within the video he thanked fans, but also explained that he didn’t have the words to express his feelings. Since then, Noah has taken to his own social media to thank supporters.
“Thank you all for giving me this opportunity, thank you for everyone who voted, thank you guys so much for everything!!” he wrote. “I wouldn’t be here if it wasn’t for you all so thank you guys so so much. I’m looking forward to continuing this journey and seeing where this thing goes. Love all of you all.”
Since winning American Idol, Noah’s debut single “One Day Tonight” has sat atop the iTunes Charts. This country track currently sits at No. 1 on the iTunes Top 100 Chart, as well as the country music charts. The second place recipient, HunterGirl, currently sits below him on the charts as No. 2.
