American Idol Cast Reunites Ahead of Season
All three judges and the long time host of the show, met up in Las Vegas on Sunday. The cast is getting ready to start filming their sixth season on the show together on ABC. The judges are looking to beat the record held by the show’s original judging trio.
Simon Cowell, Randy Jackson, and Paula Abdul were the original judges of American Idol for the first eight seasons. With the series set to return in spring 2023, the recent judges are inching closer to doing the same thing.
Seacrest shared a post showing a photo of him with Ritchie, they didn’t have to go far for the reunion. The two were together over the weekend for the iHeart Music Festival.
The revival of American Idol on ABC was received with criticism when the news went out in 2017. Ever since then, the show found success with last season’s premiere measuring a 0.9 rating with eight million viewers.
Top Secret Auditions are Being Filmed in Las Vegas
American Idol then begins filming auditions in “judge cities,” starting with Las Vegas where the cast reunited. Contestants who have made it through the online audition will soon be performing in front of the judges. Since there is not yet a premiere date for the upcoming season, most singers have not shared that they’re auditioning for the show.
Of the singers auditioning, two American Idol hopefuls have already leaked details to their social and local media. Repeat contestant Haley Slaton revealed on Instagram that she made it through the online auditions. Another contestant, 16-year-old Elle Buzzard shared to their local paper the details how she became one of the select few to advance to the Las Vegas auditions.
The next place to film auditions will be New Orleans in early October. Scheduled to audition there is Kam’ron Lawson who was celebrated by the local media. American Idol is still accepting online auditions where hopefuls can sing live in front of a producer or submitting a video.
