‘American Idol’ Announces Season 22 Audition Dates This Summer
Reading Time: 2 minutes
American Idol has announced dates for the upcoming Idol Across America auditions, as the talent show searches for singers to appear in Season 22. You can audition according to your state, or during one of the open calls.
American Idol Announces Audition Dates
Auditions kick off August 4 in Georgia, North Carolina, and South Carolina, with dates running into September for the rest of the country. The show has also announced four open call dates. The first, on August 11, is for singer/songwriters. There are also dates for country and rock artists, singers in the south, and those who perform pop, R&B, and soul.
Singers can sign up for a virtual audition (via Zoom) on the website by choosing a day and reserving a time slot. As the show’s announcement tweet points out, you can sign yourself up or sign up someone you know. Be sure to read the eligibility requirements before signing up.
Remember that this stage of the competition will not feature the show’s celebrity judges — so don’t expect to meet Katy Perry just yet. Instead, hopefuls will perform for American Idol producers for a chance to move on.

You Can Also Submit an Online Audition
If you’d rather not audition directly with producers, you also have the option to submit an online audition. You can upload a pre-existing video (as long as it meets the requirements) or share a link to a YouTube video of yourself performing.
This season, hopefuls can also try out via social media by posting a video of themselves singing to Instagram, Tikok, Facebook, or Twitter and using the hashtag #TheNextIdol. Those posting on Instagram can also tag @AmericanIdolCasting.
