Alter Ego judge Grimes recently gave fans a behind-the-scenes look at the show on Instagram. The new singing competition is premiering later this month on FOX, with a star-studded panel of judges.

Grimes will be joined by Alanis Morissette, Nick Lachey, and Will.i.am, as well as the show’s host Rocsi Diaz. Alter Ego is a new kind of talent show that combines music with motion capture technology.

Grimes Shares Video from ‘Alter Ego’ Set

On Tuesday, the Alter Ego Instagram account shared a video of singer Grimes filming herself backstage on the set of the show. She shares a glimpse of her lunch, as well as a rack of clothes. We’re sure Grimes will be wearing plenty of interesting outfits during the season.

Grimes, who sports pink hair and round glasses, then takes fans outside on a walk to set. She shows off the series’ logo, and then says she’s “ready” to start filming in the studio. We also get a glimpse of the competition stage, which is covered in what look like fog machines.

Over the past few weeks, the show’s Instagram account has been sharing various photos and videos of the judges having fun on set, with a live audience in the background. The panel already seems to be getting along, so we can’t wait to see what their dynamic is like when the show starts.

When Does the New Talent Show Premiere?

Alter Ego is set to premiere on Wednesday, September 22, at 9 p.m. on FOX. The show will air after The Masked Singer‘s Season 6 premiere. Part two of the premieres for both shows will air the next night, September 23, at the same time.

The concept of the new show is similar to The Masked Singer, except with regular people instead of celebrities. Rather than wearing costumes to hide their identities, the contestants will perform as digital avatars using motion capture technology.

The judges won’t be able to see what the singers really look like when they perform, making the concept similar to The Voice blind auditions. It’s sure to be an interesting ride, and we’re excited to see how it all goes.
