This Fall, Fox is making television history once again. The all new competition series Alter Ego will premiere on September 22 following the Masked Singer. On this show, lost dreams and second chances are reignited. Singers from all walks of life will become the stars they’ve always wanted to be. However, the contestants won’t perform as themselves. Rather, they will portray themselves as their own unique avatar, and perform like never before. The judges are already having fun on set ahead of the show’s premiere.

The Alter Ego Instagram account has already begun to give viewers a bit of insight on the newly anticipated series.

Judge Will.i.am shares a playful moment with the rest of the panel. In the post, he sets up his fellow co-stars to believe they are posing for a photo, when in actuality, he was recording the whole time. In the background, you can see the live audience present in the venue.

Another post reveals the judges making a grand entrance on the Alter Ego stage. Similar to the Fox hit The Masked Singer, the panel is star studded.

What to Expect From Alter Ego

Alter Ego will follow the season six premiere of The Masked Singer. This doesn’t come to much surprise considering how similar the show’s concepts are. In the spring, that time slot belong to Game of Talents, which has yet to be renewed for a second season. On both series, the talent’s identities are concealed in the duration of the competition. Alter Ego, however, is the latest unscripted order for the Fox network, and is notably not a reboot.

This original competition series will feature some of the biggest names in music on the judging panel. In this never before seen format, Alanis Morissette, Grimes, Nick Lachey, Will.i.am, and Rocsi Diaz will offer their expertise to the contestants.

Alter Ego is executively produced by Matilda Zoltowski. Previously, she was the executive producer for shows like NBC’s World of Dance and Bring the Funny. Zoltowski also had her hand in producing Dancing with the Stars on ABC. Now, she will participate in Fox’s highly anticipated new series. If all goes well, the originality of Alter Ego just may surpass the success of The Masked Singer. There’s only one way to find out. Catch the show’s premiere on September 22 at 9 p.m. ET.
