YouTube Talent Show? Beauty Guru James Charles Looking For The Next Internet Star — Here’s How It Works

Beauty YouTuber James Charles is tossing his hat into the talent show ring with a new competition. He recently announced that he’ll be hosting his own show for influencers, and there will be a big cash prize.
James says reality competition shows were all he watched growing up, and they’re still his “guilty pleasure.” Same James, same. So it’s only fitting that now he’s launching his very own competition, which he says he’s been planning for 3 years. Why is that giving us Jacklyn Hill flashback, keep those hairy, moldy lipsticks away from us girl.
James Charles Launches A Talent Show
He announced that the show is being produced by Brian Graden Media, and has been picked up by YouTube Originals. It’s set to debut in spring 2020, and is the first “beauty and social media influencer competition show of its kind.”
The show will be available to watch on James Charles’ channel for free. Six influencers will be flown out to Los Angeles to compete in challenges to become “the next beauty superstar.” The winner will receive a $50,000 grand prize, as well as other prizes that have yet to be revealed.
In order to enter for a chance to be on the show, you must be at least 18 years old and a legal resident of the United States, and have an active YouTube channel. If you’re not entering to compete, James encourages you to like and share video entries that you enjoy. It will apparently play a “major role” in who gets chosen.
Who Is James Charles?
James Charles is a 20-year-old beauty YouTuber with 16 million subscribers. He launched his channel in December 2015, and the next year he became CoverGirl’s first male ambassador. He released an eye shadow palette with Morphe in 2018.
James’ channel includes makeup tutorials with unique twists. Recently, he did his makeup in an escape room and rapped his routine. He also has vlog-type videos detailing his life, including exciting things like attending the Met Gala.
