NBC’s newest competition series, American Song Contest, is right around the corner featuring hosts Kelly Clarkson and Snoop Dogg. American Song Contest mirrors the format of the popular european series, Eurovision. 56 participants will battle it out for the title of best original song.
This new series will feature one artist from each of the 50 U.S. states, five territories, and Washington, D.C. Artists can be solo, duos, bands, or even a DJ. Each artist will perform an original song throughout each round of the competition.

American Song Contest artists will go through three rounds in the competition. They’ll begin with the Qualifying Rounds, then move on to the Semi Finals and eventually will make it to the ultimate Grand Final. The first winner will be determined from both fan votes and “a jury of music industry professionals.”
AGT: Extreme Fills Timeslot in Weeks Leading Up to American Song Contest Premiere
This new series premieres on NBC on March 21 in the 8-10 p.m. time slot. The series will air live every Monday for eight weeks. The highly anticipated America’s Got Talent spin off series, AGT: Extreme will air in the same time slot in the weeks leading up to American Song Contest.
American Song Contest was delayed due to COVID-19 concerns. AGT: Extreme will premiere on NBC on February 21. The America’s Got Talent spin off series brings some of the most dangerous acts to a larger than life stage. Contestants will compete for a chance to win $500,000 prize and the ultimate title of the champion of “America’s Got Talent: Extreme.”
