Look, we love The Voice. Consistently they have the best vocalists of any of the talent show competitions that we cover. There is no doubt about that. But they are having trouble getting one of their artists to become superstars. Why? We think it has something to do with the way the show is set up.
The emphasis of the series needs to change. As Mel said, “The show is about producing a winner not a star” and I think she’s right. The thrust of the show is getting a win for the coaches but where is the career for the artist after the show? One thing they can do is bring the previous season’s winner and artists to the show to perform…not to be in a Toyota commercial. I want to hear Chloe Kohanski sing not just mentor.
We also discussed our favorite performances and who is looking like they are going to be in the finale. It was action-packed.
