Canada’s Got Talent returned on Tuesday night for another round of auditions, as the judges decided which acts should move on in the competition. A highlight of the episode came when singer Frank Moyo delivered an emotional performance for his grandmother.
Singer Surprises Grandmother on Canada’s Got Talent
Frank Moyo, a music teacher from Toronto, was sitting with his grandmother in the audience of Canada’s Got Talent, without her knowing that he would be auditioning for the show. She was shocked when he got up, supposedly to use the restroom, and ended up on stage with his guitar.
Frank shared that he and his Nonna are “super, super close,” adding that she’s “the reason why I’m up here on this stage.” He went on to perform an original song that he wrote about their close bond, which featured lyrics in both English and Italian.
The audience loved Frank’s performance, and three out of four judges gave him a standing ovation. Howie Mandel called it a “brilliant audition.” Shania Twain got emotional as she praised Frank’s “songwriting talent.”
However, judge Katherine Ryan was more cynical, saying, “I’m just too old to fall for this ‘I love my Nonna’ thing. I see it as a massive red flag.” She voted “no” to sending Frank through, but he still received enough “yes” votes from the other judges to move on.

Gospel Group Wows the Show’s Judges
Tuesday’s episode also featured a performance from a singing group called Heaven’s Sound, who shared that they want to bring more attention to the gospel genre. The four women delivered a lively performance of “Shackles (Praise You)” by Mary Mary that had the judges clapping along.
Shania Twain told the group that “soul belongs in every genre.” Kardinal Offishall praised their energy, saying they “totally, totally killed that and knocked it out of the water.” Howie Mandel joked, “I’m a Jew, and you took me to church.” Heaven’s Sound received four “yes” votes from the judges to move on in the competition.
This week’s show also featured an impressive performance from dancer Joey Arrigo, who shared that dance helped him after he learned that he was HIV positive. His emotional routine earned a standing ovation from the judges, who voted “yes” to sending him to the next round.
Tuesday’s episode even included a performance by a mathematician named Mikael Taieb, who performed a magical routine with Rubik’s cubes. The judges were divided about whether to send Mikael through, but with some coaxing from the audience, he earned three “yes” votes to move on.
