American Idol‘s Scotty McCreery on Snubbing Jack Black
After he was announced as the winner of American Idol Season 10, McCreery could be seen hugging various people in the crowd. However, he turned away from guest performer Jack Black, who had his arms out as if he expected a hug of his own.
Black talked about the moment during an appearance on Conan, joking of McCreery, “It’s amazing how something like that can go to your head.” During their recent conversation, host Katie Neal asked McCreery if he and Black ever resolved the situation.
“I had no idea what was going on. I was just, like, deer in the headlights for sure,” McCreery said of him not noticing Black in the moment. “But no, I have not seen him since. So if I ever run into him again, I’ll give him a big hug and just apologize.”

McCreery Is Touring with His Baby Son
McCreery and his wife Gabi welcomed a baby son named Avery last year. Both Gabi and Avery have recently accompanied McCreery on the road as he tours with Brooks & Dunn. The singer told Katie Neal about adjusting to life on tour with a baby.
“Everything’s an adjustment,” he said. “There’s diapers everywhere, there’s bottles everywhere, toys are being thrown around, stepping on little LEGOs or whatever.”
He said the “craziest thing” has been the switch from performing for 20,000 people and then getting back on the bus to “warm a bottle, turn the lights off, sound machine on, get the baby ready for bed immediately.”
McCreery said he didn’t know what to expect when he became a father, but he shared that he’s “followed Gabi’s lead,” since she works as a pediatric nurse.
