The year has been a memorable one for American Idol season ten winner Scotty McCreery. With the early arrival of his son, the first-time father shared a ‘pretty wild’ birth story while reminiscing about the events in his life this year.

Scotty McCreery Shared His Son’s Birth Story

McCreery’s bundle of joy brought him and his wife Gabi Dugal new purpose as first-time parents. After spending the first month of fatherhood with his family, the singer recently headed to Las Vegas for a show. He shared that saying goodbye from his son was the toughest, and recalls the day of Avery’s arrival.

“She called me and she said, ‘Hey, I think it’s happening.’ I was like, ‘Oh my word,’ I immediately got on my way home on Interstate 40,” He said. “I put the flashers on and drove about as fast as my truck could go, and luckily got back just in time and we went to the hospital. It was pretty wild!”

The country singer claimed it was all worth it in the end as the delivery was successfully done, and together with his wife, they welcomed a healthy baby boy. He also shared how proud he is of his wife after nine months of pregnancy, and stayed strong throughout.

“It was a lot of emotions. Pride and love, for sure. It was just instant, unconditional love. I’ve never felt a love like that, never knew a love like that could exist,” He said.

McCreery is also thankful for his wife who is a pediatric nurse, he shared that Dugal is “born to be a mother,” and she’s handling it very well. The couple has been figuring out what works for them in taking care of Avery, but they are steadily getting the hang of it.

McCreery’s Tour Dates, Being Away from Family

Tour dates normally bring excitement to both fans and the performers involved, and the same is true for McCreery. It is however, unavoidable to feel emotional after just having his first kid arrive and him leaving for a tour so soon.

“Honestly, it’s been emotional. The first time was definitely a little sad, but luckily, Avery had his best night of sleep on record so far,” McCreery said. “He slept for five hours straight, so we actually got a relatively good night’s sleep and that helped Gabi on her first day by herself with the baby, and it helped me as I was going away.”

McCreery’s upcoming 2023 Damn Strait tour will see the country singer perform on over 20 dates starting in January all the way to the end of April. The fan club ticket presale is available for purchase online now. The singer has enjoyed being a dad but admits he misses being on stage and performing for the fans.
