RuPaul Reveals Shocking Details to Symone About ‘RuPaul’s Drag Race’ Prize Money

Jimmy Kimmel Live should be renamed RuPaul Live after he served as a guest host during Wednesday night’s episode. He spoke about everything from unruly airline passengers to Lil Nas X’s newest collaboration with Taco Bell. Season 13 RuPaul’s Drag Race winner Symone stopped by to answer some of RuPaul’s burning questions.
RuPaul Serves as Guest Host on ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live’
RuPaul is absolutely hilarious at all times and shared “Ru’s Rules for the Unruly” with the audience. These are three rules that he feels like everyone should follow on an airplane. He told viewers to never have more drinks than there are flight attendants on a plane and to keep emotional baggage to yourself. The last rule was by far the sassiest.
“Put your mask on, watch the Boss Baby, and shut the f*ck up b*tch,” RuPaul said.
RuPaul got his own segment called “Gayer News” and admitted his excitement for pumpkin spice lattes coming back to Starbucks. He also gave a shoutout to The Voice coach Ariana Grande whose last name happens to be the name of Starbucks’ largest sized cup. After talking about how Mike Richards was axed as the new host of Jeopardy!, Ru threw his hat into the ring for the job.
Ru Drops a Bomb on ‘America’s Next Drag Superstar’
Symone joined RuPaul in a white star dress and one of her amazing wigs to pay tribute to Ru’s “Back to My Roots” music video. She admitted that still gets choked up about winning Season 13 of RuPaul’s Drag Race. Ru asked about whether or not Symone got the $100,000 prize yet.
“Oh baby, the money?” Symone asked. “I would be hitting you up if the check didn’t clear. Now, what I wanted was them to come with a big check in front of my house but the deposit is good too.”
What RuPaul said next about about the prize money actually came as a bit of a shock to Symone. A lot of people out there probably do not know that the winner still has to pay taxes on their earnings.
“I always tell you girls, pay your taxes,” Ru said. “Because that ends up being half.”
Symone does hope to open Ebony Enchantress LLC some day and start acting. She insisted that she was not made aware that half of her prize money is essentially going to be taken away.
“Really half?” Symone asked. “Uncle Sam gon’ take half? They didn’t tell me that. They said about 30%, but half b*tch?”
All jokes aside, Symone did say she wants to “venture and do all of the things that drag queens don’t usually do.” She explained that she wants to be on billboards and magazine covers. She actually was just on the cover of Interview Magazine and is going on tour in the U.K. in December.
