Nick Cannon Vs. Eminem: A Timeline Of Their Decade Long Feud
Reading Time: 4 minutes
It feels like 2009 again, because Nick Cannon and Eminem are back to feuding. The Masked Singer host first got into it with the rapper when he was married to Mariah Carey. Now they’re releasing brand-new diss tracks about each other.
Read on to find out how the feud began, and what they’re saying about each other 10 years later. Plus, see what 50 Cent had to say about the feud. Because yes, 50 Cent is also involved now.
The Nick Cannon Vs. Eminem Feud
How It All Started
In the past, Eminem has claimed he had a relationship with singer Mariah Carey, which Mariah denies. That didn’t stop Eminem from releasing a track called “Bagpipes from Baghdad,” in which he mentioned Mariah and Nick by name.
NICK CANNON DIDN’T DO “ANYTHING WRONG” CHEATING ON CHRISTINA MILIAN
“Mariah, what’s ever happened to us, why did we have to break up?” he rapped on the track, later saying he would kick Nick in “your sack of junk” and adding, “Nick Cannon you prick, I wish you luck with the fuckin’ whore.” Wow, charming.
Mariah responded to Eminem with her 2009 song “Obsessed,” which many believe to be about the rapper’s fixation on her. (She even plays an Eminem-esque character in the music video.) Nick, meanwhile, posted a response on Tumblr in which he called Eminem a “racist” and wrote:
“This is my invitation to you, whenever and wherever you like sir. So when you come out of your introverted hiding place and ask your bodyguards if you can go out and play by yourself, I’m here Pimp!”
Nick and Mariah have since divorced, but in September of this year, Nick talked about the feud with Eminem on T.I.’s podcast ExpidTIously. He said he respected Eminem “as an artist” but had to defend his wife. He also claimed that Eminem apologized.
Eminem Revives The Feud In 2019
Ten years later, and the whole thing has started up again. Last week, Eminem appeared on the track “Lord Above” by Fat Joe and Dre, featuring Mary J. Blige. Eminem raps on the song, “I know me and Mariah didn’t end on a high note / But that other dude’s whipped—that pussy’s got him neutered.” He later adds, “I let her chop my balls off, too, before I lose to you, Nick.”
Nick responded on Instagram by complimenting Fat Joe on the album but covering Eminem’s face in the accompanying photo. He wrote that Fat Joe “did some charity work and dug @Eminem out his grave I mean cave!!” He invited Eminem to battle him on the MTV show Wild ‘n Out.
NICK CANNON SAYS QUITTING ‘AGT’ IS ONE OF THE ‘BEST DECISIONS OF MY LIFE’
Nick has since released two diss tracks of his own, titled “The Invitation” and “Pray for Him.” His lyrics reference Eminem’s past drug use, accuse him of using botox, and call him “the new white supremacist.”
Eminem And 50 Cent Respond To Nick
Eminem took to Twitter to respond to “The Invitation,” writing, “U mad bro? Stop lying on my dick. I never even had a chauffeur, you bougie f*ck.” He added a clown emoji and demanded an apology.
Then fellow rapper 50 Cent got involved, writing on Instagram, “I don’t understand to save my life why someone would pick a fight with EM. He is a different kinda animal, I haven’t seen a motherfucker come close to beating him man. hey Nick that shit was trash, I oughta kick you in yo ass when I see you PUNK!”
So who’s winning this revived feud between Nick Canon and Eminem? According to Twitter, it’s Eminem. The hashtag #RIPNickCanon (with his last name spelled wrong) was reportedly trending on Twitter. Someone even changed Nick’s Wikipedia occupation to “Certified Clown.”
Will this beef continue into the new year, or is it just a way to cap off the decade? We’ll just have to wait and see if either Nick or Eminem releases a new track. Meanwhile, Mariah hasn’t said a word about it.
