Miley Cyrus’s flight to Asunción, Paraguay had to make an emergency landing after being struck by lightning. The singer took to Instagram to share the scary situation and to thank her worried fans. Cyrus was scheduled to headline the second day of the Asuncionico Festival.
“To my fans and everyone worried after hearing about my flight to Asunción. Our plane was caught in a major unexpected storm and struck by lighting,” Cyrus posted.
The singer recently caused pandemonium during her live shows. Since her Super Bowl Music Festival performance, Cyrus has been touring all over the world. She recently made stops in Argentina as well as Colombia. This past weekend the singer went viral for her extravagant performance during Lollapalooza in Chile. In the video you can see the powerful lightning storm as well as Cyrus’s reaction when strikes were close to the plane.
“My crew, band, friends, and family who were all traveling with me are safe after an emergency landing,” Cyrus continued. “We were unfortunately unable to fly into Paraguay.”
The Asuncionico Festival canceled Tuesday and Wednesday shows altogether. Tuesday’s show included performances by Machine Gun Kelly as well as Doja Cat. Cyrus was scheduled to headline day two of the event. This would have been the return of the popular festival after a two year hiatus due to the pandemic.
