Reading Time: 2 minutes
Pop star Meghan Trainor recently responded to TikTok creator Susi Vidal’s viral “store-bought pesto moment” with a crazy story of her own about an appearance on RuPaul’s Drag Race. In a short TikTok video with her youngest son, Trainor references the viral TikTok clip before launching into the details of her wild Drag Race rumor.
Meghan Trainor Posts a Humorous TikTok Video About The Rumor on Drag Race
Holding her four-month-old baby Barry Bruce, Trainor starts her video by playfully responding to Susi Vidal’s famous “Call me crazy” pesto line. Trainor then launches into the ridiculous sandwich rumor from her time as a Drag Race guest judge.
According to Trainor, she made the last-minute decision to wear a unicorn onesie on the show, since she didn’t have time to prepare an outfit while touring. This sparked some criticism and odd speculation, including a rumor that Trainor stole and ate a sandwich belonging to one of the drag queens.
As Trainor describes, the silly story took on a life of its own online. She received backlash on the internet over an incident she claims never even happened. At one point, the rumors got so out of hand that she almost doubted herself, wondering if she really did take someone’s sandwich.
Ultimately though, Shea Couleé admitted to fabricating the whole tale years later. Trainor wraps up her video feeling vindicated. While her Drag Race onesie may have been a poor choice, she’s innocent when it comes to any backstage sandwich snatching.

Shea Couleé Has Since Apologized to Meghan Trainor For The Made Up Story
Last year, Drag Race superstar Couleé issued a public apology for fabricating the infamous sandwich theft. At November’s Streamys award show, Couleé admitted face-to-face that she started the rumor years ago as a joke.
“I don’t know if you’ve encountered this rumor that, when you were on Drag Race as a guest judge, you ate a drag queen’s sandwich? I made that rumor up,” Couleé said. “I’m so sorry. It was me.”
Admitting her fibbing to Trainor face-to-face, Couleé explained she offhandedly joked about the fake sandwich theft on set one day. She never imagined it would spiral into such dramatic internet rumors that would follow the pop singer for years. A regretful Couleé has since apologized for joking around, assuring Trainor she never actually stole any sandwiches.
A stunned but amused Trainor accepted the long-awaited admission from Couleé, later posing together happily at the award show. So after years of living under the cloud of a suspected sandwich snatching, Trainor can finally put the rumors to rest thanks to Couleé’s apology.
