American Idol alum Benson Boone performed his song “Beautiful Things” at the Grammys on Sunday night. The 22-year-old singer wore a tight-fitting blue jumpsuit for the occasion, and he finished the performance with a crotch grab that went viral online.
Benson Boone Apologizes for Grammys Crotch Grab
Boone, who was nominated for Best New Artist at Sunday’s awards ceremony, took the stage during the show to perform his hit song “Beautiful Things.” He started the performance in a tuxedo, before audience members Heidi Klum and Nikki Glaser ripped it off him to reveal a shimmery jumpsuit underneath.
He proceeded to do a flip off the piano before launching into the song’s iconic chorus. At the end of the performance, he thanked the crowd and quickly adjusted the crotch of his jumpsuit. The moment went viral on social media, with one X (formerly Twitter) user writing, “I will be thinking about Benson Boone’s crotch grab for…a WHILE.”
After the show, Boone took to his Instagram stories to jokingly apologize for the eyebrow-raising moment. He posted a shirtless selfie and wrote, “Sorry for adjusting my jumpsuit so aggressively on stage tonight that thing was extremely restricting in certain areas.”

Did Boone Win a Grammy?
Boone was nominated for his first Grammy on Sunday night, in the Best New Artist category — alongside artists like Sabrina Carpenter, Doechii, and Teddy Swims. However, he didn’t end up winning the award, which instead went to Chappell Roan.
You might remember Boone from Season 19 of American Idol. Despite making it to the Top 24, Boone chose to drop out of the competition to focus on pursuing his music career. He began gaining popularity on TikTok and was signed to Night Street Records.
Boone released his first original single, “Ghost Town,” in 2021. Following the release of two EPs in 2022 and 2023, he put out his debut studio album, Fireworks & Rollerblades, in April 2024. It featured the single “Beautiful Things,” which reached No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.
