Bryan starts the song off by singing about the aftermath of a breakup, and how he “knows how that country song goes,” adding that he’s “supposed to be heartbroke.” However, the rest of the song flips the script on this trope.
“But I got a beer in my hand, and I got it raised up high / I ain’t got a give in my damn right, I can do this all night,” Bryan sings on the song’s chorus, later adding, “Feelin’ this high wasn’t part of my plan / Wasn’t even gonna try / But I got a beer in my hand.”
According to Taste of Country, Bryan said of the track, “It’s about a guy that obviously, his girl leaves him and he’s expecting to really be down about it. Instead, he goes out, gets a beer in his hand, starts partying and life’s pretty good.”
The upbeat song is sure to be playing at plenty of barbecues and pool parties this summer.
