Kelly Clarkson, Chance the Rapper Talk About The Voice
When Clarkson asked Chance if he thought he was going to win his first season of The Voice, he replied that he was “pretty sure” he would. Clarkson acknowledged that he has a “really good team” and asked if the show is “what you expected.”
“It’s a lot different than I thought it was gonna be,” Chance admitted. “It’s a lot of fun. We have a lot of fun … It’s a very easy environment. You and Blake [Shelton] and Niall [Horan] are all cool. Everybody that works on the show is cool.”
Chance added that he enjoys working with his artists on the arrangements of their performances. Clarkson said she liked watching him coach from a producer’s perspective, adding that she “was threatened” by him during the Blind Auditions.
“It was cool. You were producing during the Blinds,” Clarkson said. “That was part of your pitch, which I didn’t like. No, I liked it for you. I didn’t like it for me.”

Chance Says Artists on the Show Preferred Clarkson
After Clarkson shared that she felt threatened by Chance, the new coach shared that several of the artists he wanted on his team ended up being huge Clarkson fans.
“They would give a whole speech about how they loved me, and ‘Oh, Coloring Book!’ and were like, ‘But Kelly Clarkson!’ and they’d go to you,” Chance recalled, making Clarkson laugh.
Clarkson said she thought something similar happened with this season’s other new coach, Niall Horan. As she said of the former One Direction star, “I can’t compete with that.”
You can catch Chance, Clarkson, Horan, and Shelton on The Voice Season 23 Monday and Tuesday nights on NBC.
